Cinch App Reviews

Just like it’s part of the system

This app works without any issues that i’ve seen. It starts with the computer just like anything else. I use 3 screens in total, and it allows me to move everything to the right place and size with ease. There’s that old saying “if you’ve done something right it’s like you’ve don’t nothing at all” That’s how smooth it runs. I forget it’s even a third party app. Also when I installed I contacted customer service to get the uninstall details from the free version I was using, and they were fast, and on point. Super happy with this app. I hope they make some package deals of there other programs to buy in the future as I would like to add on more later.

Simple but works perfectly

Most of buyers will know that BTT also offers similar features, but it’s too heavy and complicated. Clinch focuses on snapping window easily, and it’s up to users whether it worths $7.

Just what I wanted

Works with Microsoft Office for Mac products, has multi-monitor support, and is not intrusive at all. Did not give it 5 stars because I believe it still takes up too much memory - currently just “running” in the background and it needs 24.5 MB of RAM - in my opinion too much, but I know the functionality benefit outweighs that. There is some minor buggines when using multiple monitors and moving a window from one to another. I constantly use 3 montiors all at once and find myself having to drag and redrag the window from screen to screen when crossing from one monitor to the next. If this were to be more fluent and natural, I would give it 5 stars - hands down.

Does not appear to work with Adobe software

Would be really great if I could use this for Bridge and my Adobe design programs. Pretty useless for me otherwise.

Works about 20% of the time.

I use the feature this is supposed to implement in various distros of Linux all the time, so I really miss it in OSX and was excited to find this app. Unfortunately, it works only occasionally. You may grab a window, bang it up against the side of the screen over and over with no reaction from this app at all. Try the other side, and it works just fine. A minute later, it might work on the first try with the same window, or it might not. The end result is a drain instead of an improvement in productivity. This is the case with every browser, office app, video app, and finder window I try. I have since bought and installed a keyboard based app that has more advanced functionality. Now I try the Cinch method, it fails, and I use the keyboard to do what I should have done in the first place. The keyboard app has the added benefit that you dont lose screen edges with a multi-display setup.Get Divvy and save yourself some a few bucks and some frustration.

Works but is a little glitchy

The app works well most of the time and fills a need which apple overlooked. However, at times there are a few problems i have noticed. For instance it often does not resize certien windows such as the contacts. Also, sometimes I have trouble with web browsers. I have a singel tab opened in a web browser (firefox and chrome) and I go to size it but it will not generate the dotted lines. The workaround is that I drag and drop the tab like I am splitting it into another window. Afterwards cinch will work with the browser fine until I quit and relaunch it. But bottom line, for the price, the program works well enough that I would recomend getting it.

AMAZING!!!!

i just dowloaded this on my brand new mac and my gosh! i used it once and i already love it! so excited that i can split screens on a macbook now!

Cinch is still better than El Capitan Split View!

Please continue to support and rev. The El Capitan Split View is funky. El Captain doesn’t resize the application it put you in a seperate Desktop with two apps and doesn’t let you resize the application window. Cinch is way better! Please Please Please keep Cinch going it is a must have.

Great little utility

If you work on multiple OSes, like me, I’m sure that you wish you could take the best from each and combine them into one. This program help you bring the functionality of snap-to from Windows to OS X. It seems to be a little slower with a little with OSX 10.11, but I’m sure they will update it soon...

Much better window management than native El Capitan feature

Cinch is a FAR more user friendly way to manage windows than El Capitan’s native window management functionality. As such, it is more than worth its modest cost. Here’s to hoping the developers continue to support the app. This app is pure Goodness.

Really slowed down in OS X 10.11

Really slowed down in OS X 10.11 needs to be update.

Great for many years until . . .

I have been using Cinch for many years until this morning. I purchased it while using my macbook and then also installed it to my iMac without any issues back in 2013 and have been using it since. Well this morning as I booted up my mac, it told me that I had to purchase it once for each machine. I thought ok, fair is fair, so I purchased it again . . . or so I tried. I cannot get it to open and have no idea if it charged my account. I know that yosemite EC has a similiar function but it is a little different in how it opperates so I like cinch better. But now I am going to begin using the new built-in feature vice sinch because I do not have time to argue with them and I am not even going to try. I have the function on the mac anyway so I will just get used to that. Very frustrated this morning!

Won’t run any more

I liked this app…when it was working. Suddenly this morning, my Mac tells me the app is corrupted, delete it, and re-download it form the app store. I’ve done that several times now and I keep getting the “corrupted” message. I haven’t updated my OS lately, still running Yosemite 10.10.5, so I don’t understand this sudden issue. I guess I’ll just have to do without it...

Worked great until today

I’ve been successfully using this app every day for years, and suddenly today it stopped working. An error tells me that it is damaged, to delete and reinstall the app. I’ve done that twice and it doesn’t fix the issue. :( Hope the issue is reolved soon.

Thanks for Fixing!

So incredibly glad to see this app working again. Five-star rating regained.

Much needed update for El Capitan users

Update is a must for El Capitan users. Improves window snapping speed and animation as needed.

Thanks for keeping it up to date!

Great utility, quick to keep up to date with latest OS X releases. I have a hard time with OS X without Cinch!

Always Use It

Great app. Would be tougher OS to use without it, as I use multiple windows at once & Cinch makes process of putting windows in their places easier and faster.

Great App - Always Updating to Work with the Latest OS

This app is one of the best apps I’ve ever bought on the app store. The developers do a great job at keeping the app updated so that it works when new Operating Systems are released. Keep up the great work!

Performs as promised

Way better than apple’s update that includes this feature to full screen two apps. It doesn’t support all applications, but Cinch does! I love it and use it everyday without even thinking about it.
